Hi
I came across this site on the Google Search and thought I would take a look. What a great site it is and the writing is really good but .....
Do you realise that anyone can enter this site - no need to register or anything boring like that - just click on the message board and I have access (as does any other passerby) to your writing which I can then cut and paste and use any way I like.
I enjoyed my visit here today but hope that if I call again you will have at least made the notice board only visible for registered users. This stuff is too good to allow anyone to just pop in and take it as their own.
Good wishes to you all.

| #2 | We've had this discussion in my writing group many times. Preventing people from using copy and paste might slow them down a little but if they were really determined they could just copy our work using a pen and paper.
It is possible to make everyone register to use the Message Board - but then it makes it slower to access (we'd all have to log-in with a user name & password every time we wanted to post a message.) We still have members who haven't been able to get in to TheFED E-Group because of the rather complicated sign up and email confirmation process.
So what does everyone else think? Do we need (or want) to make everyone register to use this Message Board?

| #3 | Hi
I was thinking more in terms of the areas of your site which contain members' work being only viewable by invited and trusted members rather than the general public. So you would only need to register if you wanted to access those parts of the site which you wanted to keep for registered members only i.e. the writing challenges where people are posting their work.
I hope I will be able to follow this discussion thread as it will be interesting to see what you decide.
:-)

| #4 | All the entries posted here for TheFED Writing Challenges get copied to TheFED Website Gallery (which is also publicly accessible) - our member's motivation for posting a submission here is to get their writing read by as many people as possible.
TheFED's Aim is 'Making Writing and Publishing Accessible to All'
And our Mission is:
To offer people greater access to developing skills in participatory writing and publishing activities.
To encourage people to read and write creatively, and be heard and read, especially those who may be socially excluded.
To ensure that all TheFED events, member groups, and activities follow equal opportunity guidelines.
Hope this helps to clarify the situation...
